I'm over 60 and finally got a text from the surgery w/c 15 March telling me to book a time for my covid vaccine the same week that the rest of the country had been told the over 50s could book a vaccination, not sure why. They gave me two days notice not a problem for me but I'm sure it could have been for others with childcare and work commitments. The text said if I've had the vaccine or didn't want it to text back with a code, I would have thought it would give a better understanding of who didn't want it and who had it if there were separate questions as can't see how they are going manage figures in the future. My wife booked through the NHS website and had to provide a date for the second vaccination, after my vaccination I phoned the surgery to ask why everyone I know has a follow up appointment and I don't. The lady on reception said she didn't know why the NHS asked for second appointment and I would be contacted nearer to the 12 week second dose as they wont know until then if they will have the vaccine. The government has said they will honour all booked appointments so if you want to make sure of the second dose and don't want to sit around waiting for a last minute appointment I suggest you book through the NHS website.

Suggested improvements
Ask separate question re had the vaccine or don't want it. Book second appointments when giving the vaccine, if not let people know if they book through the NHS they will get dates for both vaccinations

Dear patient I am sorry that there seems to have been an administration error with the timing of your covid-19 vaccination invitation. The vaccination programme has been an extremely challenging project and stretched our GP resources to the limit. I do hope that you have managed to keep up to date with your covid-19 vaccines with less difficulties. Please let me know privately at the surgery if this was not the case. With regards to your suggestion of booking patients second vaccine at the same time as the first dose being administered, we as a GP practice would also see the huge benefits of this option. Unfortunately we are only given one week's notice of a vaccination delivery date therefore this is a matter you will need to take up with the NHS. Kind regards Alan Dunham Practice Manager

Hi Why after over a year am I still waiting to be put on the system as a carer? I informed Hazlemere surgery over a year ago now that I am a carer. I found out a few weeks ago that this has not been put on the system. And I only found this out because I called to find out if I was on the Covid vaccine priority list and they said no. So I explained yet again, completed a carer's form, took in proof of being a carer, which they asked to see, and as of today, I am still not listed as a carer on the system. And the reception staff or some of them are still not aware that if you are a carer in receipt of a carer's allowance you should be in priority group 4 of the vaccine list, according to the JCVI. Extremely concerning.

Yesterday morning, at about 9.30am, my wife and I received a phone call from the surgery inviting us to attend at Adam's Park, on the same day at 2.15pm, to have the first of our Covid vaccination jabs. The whole process from the first phone contact through to exiting Adam's Park was a pleasure. Everybody was very pleasant and made the whole process so easy. To the person who first phoned us right through to the volunteer to whom we said "Goodbye" to, a very sincere "Thank you" for a job well done.

As I developed a strange heart problem - literally overnight, I was delighted that at 10am, the receptionist booked me in as an emergency. I then saw the doctor who said I needed an ecg - asap; arranged it with a nurse (and yes I did have to wait for over an hour), told me not to leave the surgery and phoned for an ambulance (which took another hour and a half) to take me directly from the surgery, to an acute cardiac ward. And I am now saying that's fine - because I am writing this; thank you. I read about the person with a kidney stone and no nhs number - and just wondered how they had got through life without one@~! Maybe they ought to register appropriately (I honestly don't know) I know its sometimes hard to be patient trying to get an appointment, but twice, the doctors at Roberts Ride have certainly saved my my life. Maybe I am just lucky, but I like to think its because I have a good surgery, starting with receptionists who deal with all sorts of people, with nurses who put up with moaning people who waited in the cold for a flu jab (yes me too!, I waited in the cold for about 40 minutes - but I did get a flu jab!!) doctors who, in my experience never rush to get you out and of course all the people behing the scenes who keep the surgery clean and tidy and manage the admin. It isn't easy folks. So, before you complain, just rest awhile and think - moan if you must, but try and be grateful for a really tough job, done every day.

Sometimes, the receptionists disappear - probably for perfectly good reasons (like they need the loo) and it seems like ages while youre waiting. An empty desk (reception) is never likely to imbue positive responses from impatient grumpy patients. It makes the reception at reception seem a bit negative. I hasten to add, the bell is always responded to, so just don't take the bell away!! Identify Roberts Ride and Desborough Surgeries as being two different locations within this review process - because as they serve hugely different patient cohorts, there will be hugely different responses because of ethniicty etc..... (I am not aware that I could have specified Roberts Ride location)

Where do I begin so my father wanted to register with this gp since he’s moved to a different address and because he wasn’t register for 3 years with the previous one. He unfortunately then got diagnosed suddenly with kidney stones one evening and got taken to hospital for treatments And needed after to register with a new gp to keep the process of his operation and consultation to continue. I respect its a hard time at the moment etc with everything COVID related but He didn’t receive any help on how to acquire this nhs number to complete his registration what so ever from the receptionist. He just kept being sent back without any direction so I ended up calling 111 nhs direct which sorted this problem. So now that he had this number he went back to provide all the forms needed to register and for some reason still something wasn’t efficient enough for them and they started asking him why are you changing gp’s and why are you here and why do you want to register here. How was he not directed properly with advice and care and helped with registration to speed this process. He rightly so became frustrated and fed up and I don’t blame him so i advised him to not to register with this gp because clearly you don’t want to help and you don’t want him to join. All this whilst he is still suffering from a kidney stone and in need of something to be done to treat him.

Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you for your feedback and sorry that you have cause to write a complaint. Unfortunately we are unable to register any patients on a permanent basis without an NHS number. To my knowledge this would be the same requirement at any other Practice in Bucks. Once your father was able to provide his NHS number and the required documentation, then we were happy to register him as a patients. However to ensure that the patient receives a good quality level of care and so both parties are aware of each others expectations, all patients moving from another local Practice are invited in to have a pre-registration interview. This, I hope explains the inquisitive questions from our reception staff. Please inform your father that if he would like to discuss the matter further then contact me at Desborough Surgery. I wish your father well and hope he has now had his condition seen to. He is by all means more than welcome to register with us should he still wish to do so. Kind regards Alan Dunham Practice Manager
